  • Don't Forget to Check Your Spare Tire

I bought my Champion last spring and the spare wheel and radial tire both looked brand new. The spare was full of air for the 8 months I owned the car last year, so I never paid attention to it this spring. Today while working in the trunk I happened to lean against it, and to my surprise it was flat.

When I mount tires I like to coat the bead with Vaseline to help prevent rim leaks. I'll break this one down and do the same, but I'd better check it for pressure before each tour.

I carry a can of "Flat Fix" as a backup. Old spares can be unreliable.

I also carry a can of Flat Fix in my trunk. But I also check the pressure in my spare every so often. I should do it more often.

OK. Same as yesterday. None in there. (sorry, couldn't resist!)

The holes in my trunk floor are almost big enough to lose one. I have a new CE floor, but no chance to put it in yet.
