  • Electrical: Speedster Tachometer issues

The tachometer initially worked when I installed it in the Speedster then quit. The plugs on the connecting cable from the distributor to the tach are in bad shape (corroded). I cleaned them but tach still does not work. Is there a way to test the sending unit and tach? Is the connecting cable (part # 536835) available? Any other suggestions?

Use about six feet of old fashioned black, three wire electrical cord, and rebuild it yourself. All it takes is a little time and soldering. If you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself, contact Brent Hagen, out in Oregon. He rebuilds them, but will probably want your core. Go to the "56J Only" web site and look him up, in the advertising section.

Brent also rebuilds senders and tachs.
