Guys - Generally how many amps does an old 6v wiper motor pull?
I'd like to convert my car to 12v and need to get a step-down that will handle it. Thanks!

You could connect an amp meter between your battery post and cable, then run the wiper to check the amps. Be sure to wet the glass because wiping dry glass will take more amps. I'd guess the wiper motor would use about 5 amps, so a 1.2 to 1.5 ohm 50 watt resistor would probably do the job for you. You can buy some nice 50 watt aluminum finned resistors on ebay for under $5 delivered.

I guess you could use a resistor if it has plenty of air flow. I changed the 6 volt wiper motor in my 52 to a later 12 volt motor and got two speeds with automatic park to boot. The later two speed switch even swapped out wit the stock switch. Simple and works great. I was helped by having some motors saved from various parts cars to choose from, but it shouldn't be that hard to find a 12 volt motor.
