The Arkansas chapter met at John and Debra Wade's house Saturday for a cookout. John had invited the Metropolitan club to attend and one of their members brought a friend who happens to have a 64 T cab. The best part of the meeting for me was this guys enthusiasm about our Studebakers. He insisted on looking at each one and asked lots of questions. Of course, we would like to sign him up.
It was interesting to note that none of the vehicles we had displayed outside were stock although they had Studebaker engines. The 62 Daytona even has a turbocharger.
Unfortunately, my 52 Commander has a short in the turn signal circuit that has defied repair so far. I had to ride down to the Wade's in my brother's Transtar. We got lots of waves and thumbs up.

I don't think I am alone in asking if you have a photo of the turbocharged engine. Sounds very interesting!

I didn't get a very good shot. The turbo is partially hidden on the passenger side of the car.

Thank you for the report. I hope you were able to talk up the upcoming Orphan Car Show in Branson to the Met owners.

Somehow I missed the last few replies. Unfortunately, none of the Met people drove their cars. The president of their club told me that actually many of their members are in their 70s and no longer own a Metropolitan. The lady who is the president and a bit younger than most of her membership, owns 2 Mets, but her husband is into Volkswagen Beetles.

The people I talked to had been there at least once. I encouraged them to come this year.
