  • 55 Gallon Studebaker Oil Drum

I found this oil drum at the Jefferson swap meet in Wisconsin yesterday. Have any of you seen one like this before? It has surface rust but all of the text is readable and there is no major rust. There are some minor dents but no big ones. The top has both of the caps on it. I don't see anywhere that it says what viscosity of oil was in it. Does anyone have an idea what it may be worth?

Hey Greg, I can't help you with the drum, but I sure like your post handle (PACKERBACKER). Hope all is well with you, enjoy the "spring" weather! Brother Jim had surgery today at the VA (veins in his right leg), so you might not see him and his Avanti for a while. If you don't want that barrel, I'll take it off your hands,LOL. Bill

      That's way cool!
If it didn't have rust it couldn't be Studebaker.
      Another museum piece?

      Dean.

Most likely the Oil Weight was Black rubber stamped on the Lid 30 Wt. or 10W-30 would be most common in '63-'64 which is the Era of the Logo.

Hey Bill. Hope that Jim is doing well. I always get a kick out of seeing his Avanti. It's a real beauty!
