  • Camshaft choice. opinion needed

I'm getting ready to build a R2 engine that will be going in a manual transmission Lark. It will be a basically stock build with a little porting and blending on the heads and R-3 intake valves. Should I go with a stock regrind or opt for the r2+ cam? Opinions and comments are greatly appreciated.

Go with the R2+. The stock cam is a little anemic.

Agreed, as long as one is prepared for the slightly increased valvetrain noise level at idle. Some don't hear it, some it makes crazy.

The R2+ will also be just that much softer off idle and up to 3,000 RPMs. Again, some don't even notice the difference. Some complain.

One plus factor is the reduction in dynamic compression lessens the tendency to ping on hot days.

The R2+ is kind of what I was leaning toward. The owner won't mind any increased valvetrain noise.
