              Ford Pinto used them OE... It would work OK.

                Gotta be a cable to work at that configuration.
                On one hand, Like Jeff says, Ford used a cable on the Pinto. On the other hand, at about a 180 or so degree bend, I'm not so sure...
                I'd want to see the design criteria that Ford had to design the cable with and it design limitations.
                Even two u-joints might be stressed at those angles.

                    NSRA would not approve it on their Saftey 23 program. At least was that way back in eighties.
