  • Transmission / Overdrive: T10's, Ford/Stude bolt patterns, and other possibilities

    Hi,
a recent discussion around T10 transmissions contained the following -
    "1961 and all 1962 T-10s were GM wide bolt pattern. '63 and '64 were Ford/Studebaker pattern. "

I have a 1963 Hawk with a standard flightomatic, that has seen better days. As Ford transmissions from the period are more readily available (and thus cheaper) than FOM's here in Oz, I am wondering if any other Ford transmissions, especially autos, are also compatible with the Studebaker engine bolt pattern? e.g would a FMX fit?
Alternatively, I understand that the Ford FMX has some compatible parts with the FOM? - that I could maybe use to resurrect my FOM?? Quentin

Late 60's iron case Crusomatics and you would even get a first gear start.

Is the Cruise-o-matic compatible with the Stude bolt pattern?

You still need the Studebaker input shafts, to be able to use the Studebaker torque converter. I use the FMX racing clutches when building up a hot Stude trans. Also kevlar bands, and a B and M sprag. They can be made to take the punishment.Click image for larger version
