  • What is the name of this part?

    Hello together,

I am trying to figure out, how this part is called (see photo). I know it should be black and goes above the radiator.

    Are they still available?

Thank you very much. I wish you a great weekend.

    Regards

      Hello swvalcon

Thank you for your info - I already ordered the top rubber part for it. I need the name of the part marked in the photo (is it called air deflector? or what is the name of it. Would like to buy an original or reproduced one, if they are still around. Rather than stripping down the chrome on mine.

It's called a Baffle and Seal. One part number for both pieces.

Swiss-goldenhawk. I would just have someone sand blast it a hard as they could and epoxy prime it with a black epoxy. Bet it would stay on better than you think.

Ya, cheaper than buying one and shipping half way around the world.

Hello. Thank you for the info that is is called radiator baffle. I want to keep the baffle chromed and maybe try to find an original black radiator baffle. Because the chroming was expensive at some point in the past. So if you know where I can find a black radiator baffle, please let me know.

I've had a lot of parts shipped from the US to Switzerland without any problems. And this will be my last project anyway.

I will also post photos after the car will be finished some time in June/July.

                  Thank you.

                    Rudy,
I may have one from a 63 GT Hawk that I parted out. According to the parts book, it is the same part number. It will be Monday before I can check on it.

                      Rudy,
I tried to reply to your PM but I get this error message "Swiss-Goldenhawk has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space."

Here is the message I was trying to send:

It will be tomorrow, Monday, before I can get to where I stored the remains of that GT Hawk. I'll get a picture and send it to you after I get off work. Google says you are 9 hours ahead of me so that might be 3 AM Tuesday your time. Based on the other parts that I used off of this GT Hawk, I would guess that this baffle will have surface rust with some black paint under it. It will definitely need cleaning and painting. I could bead blast it for you and treat it with some metal prep or spray can primer to keep it from flash rusting. Then you will need to finish it to match the other black under hood objects. There is a lot of discussion about which manufacturer's satin or semi-gloss paint matches what Studebaker actually used. Given the proximity to the radiator, I think any used baffle will need to be cleaned up and repainted. Let me know if you would rather keep looking for a NOS baffle.

                            Hello together,

I am still looking for a black, original radiator baffle for my 57 GH. It needs to be in good to very good condition. Please let me know, if you have one. Thanks a lot.

                            Have a nice weekend.
