Note Motor Trend for May '65. Obviously not a original production R3 but with the colors listed maybe someone can confirm whether it may have survived.

Yes, that was in the good old days when Motor Trend had a classified section. I still have a few of those issues.

The Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles was certainly plenty close enough to buzz over to Santa Monica and get a R3 or R4 Transplant for your 289, R1 or R2 engine at Paxton Products Division of Studebaker, they even had an exchange price!

Call the phone number, see if he sold it.

(My parents still have the same California phone number[and area code] they've had since 1965, despite having moved four times.)

I have checked many GT Hawks, that I see listed for sale on the internet, with the GT registry and only about half of the ones I've checked are there.
I'd rather be driving my Studebaker!

I bought my 1958 Packard Hardtop from a Motor Trend ad and my 1987 Avanti from an AutoWeek ad.

Would have been hard to make a clone and drive it 10,000 miles by May 1965( plus the time to get into print in those days)--no??

Anyone with old SDC Rosters from the 1960's and '70's? See if 'James J. Adams' was a member at one time.
