Thanks for posting photos of the correct version! The slotted vents are the most visible differences.

No, actually the Fresh Air Duct opening is! Also the very deep part in the front bottom is not like any '58-'66.

Very rare 1961 only, I doubt that anyone but Milt's Pics are the real deal, possible but unlikely.
Other years will work but not like a '61.

The air direction vents in the '61s are also unique. The '62s onward (til '65) had a circle within a circle similar to the Ford Mustang A/C.

I'm thinking this is the correct unit for 1961.

The one I have is still hanging in the 61 convert, but I now think it is the other style, more like the Ford.

Are these parts for sale?

Even harder to find, is gonna be the six cylinder compressor mount. I saw one on a truck at Maggie Valley last year, but pretty sure it had been fabricated. I am thinking the factory probably added some sort of idle speed kick-up in line with the AC switch, to keep the compressor from killing the motor when it kicks on at idle. Along similar lines, I noticed the truck at MV had a very small compressor drive pulley on the motor, around 4" instead of the usual 7" or so ;)

At least some '62s also had the slotted vents, including my Jan. 62 assembled Hawk.

The '61 unit with the fresh air intake in the larks seems superior--I wonder why they changed it.

Was the A/C installed at the Factory or by the Dealer?

Sorry, I should have said it is factory air. I've seen a couple other '62s with the slotted vents too--I wonder if they changed them later in the year?

I have compressor brackets from a parted '64 OHV 6 that should work.

Are they the same for a 61 six?

the three brackets, 1551199, 1551195 and 1551422 used to mount the compressor on the 6 Cyl were the same 61-64 OHV. I have the 3 NOS brackets and can take pictures if needed.

I have held onto the 3 brackets and under dash unit in case I would ever want to add AC to my 61 Lark but we also know that flashing of cash in front of ones face sometimes changes ones desires.
