Why do I see some pics of 62 hawks with chrome headlights and tail lights and others are painted? Mine are chrome and wondering if this is correct?

The Painted Headlight Rims are or SHOULD be '63 or '64 Hawks which are mostly body color with a narrow outer chrome rim and serrated inner lining.

The MODIFIED '53 to '62 Coupes, Hardtops and Hawks sometimes have modified Painted ones that were originally Chrome.

The Tail Light Housings on '62 and '63 GT Hawks are SUPPOSED to have only the narrow 1/4 inch Rims near the Lens Chrome showing, and mostly body Color, but where there is a way to screw something up, someone WILL!

Many NOS replacement Tail Light Housings are '64 Type or more correctly BEFORE Paint, and are completely chrome and need to have body color added for '62-'63's. Studebakers are simple, do not overthink anything.

But the fifty eight Packard Hawk WERE painted, and not chrome. However the tail light housings were chromed, and the Golden hawks were painted! never say never.

Of course you are correct for THOSE applications, but...

Sorry Bez, but we're talking Studebakers here, and '62 GT's not previous Hawk round tail lights.

There is another item that gets confusing on 1962 Hawks. Those for the US market had side grilles painted to match the car. Those for outside the US had chrome side grilles. Of course, many have been changed one way or the other in the intervening 53 years.
