  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: Restoring 1950 Champion Gauges

Does anyone know if I can buy the material to recover the needle on my fuel and oil pressure gauges?
All the rest of the gauges look good, but these two needles are turning brown. Also notice my horn center cracks on the surface. Can they be polished out? Is a good repro available?
I want the original glow in the dark material. ThanksClick image for larger version

I repainted the needles on some of the gauges on my 52 Commander. I used some phosphorescent acrylic paint from a discount store craft area. The paint was too bright to match so I mixed it with some gray until it looked right. It still glows like it should. I also repainted the red centers and I don't think most people will ever see any difference from original.

Horn buttons and Gauges are available NEW at Studebaker Vendors, I would not waste time repairing either.

I would have replaced my gauges if they did not work, but I don't like to discard a good part. Also I had the time and not much money so it worked for me. Your results may vary.

There are gauges on eBay now that are NOS and for a '50 Champion. The reference for one of them is 151544506301. Hope this helps.
