  • Source Needed: Air duct coil tubing.....

It's 1-5/8" type used on '64 Hawks from heater blower to defrost vents. Nothing available in that size locally...any ideas?

      The 1 3/4 Inch X 6 Inch defroster Ducts #800514 are for '49-'58 Models, the 2 Inch X 6 Inch #800515 is for '59-'66. You must have mis-measured.

They would go from the Fiberglass Heat distribution Tube/Box to the Windshield Outlets.

Check diameter first, I got mine there too. They were too large for my 59 hawk. Nice duct hose but it would not stay on the fittings.

A material called Flexhaust seems to be very similar to the duct hose used in cars of the era. Check McMaster-Carr or Grainger, they have just about everything.

Studebaker had a very unique "Clamping" method on '59-'66's; at the Distribution Duct end, a 1 3/4 Inch piece of 5/16" or 3/8" Fuel Hose stuck between the 2 Duct Hoses.

I have a novel idea for attaching hoses, product called duct tape possibly could be used for its name sake rather than every other use thought of by mankind

The 2" hose will work and can be fairly well sealed with a couple of hose clamps. I've never seen a judge look under the dash to see if the heater hose diameter was correct.

This is what the current retail and wholesale suppliers list for '59 - '66 Studebakers. However, they neglect to say "except Hawks." Note that even the '63 - '64 Hawks - using the under dash distribution duct - require an "adapter" at the under dash duct to the defroster flexible hoses, since it has to adapt the 2" duct fittings to 1-3/4" flex hose - required for the upper duct. So, to answer your question, you need 1-3/4" flex hose.

The "adapters" are only required on '63 - '64 Hawks - they are #1558783 and are available.

That is just the early Hawk Type 800514 mis-listed as not being for '63-'64, no Search required!

If you used duct tape and have the car judged you will be deducted points. Ask how I know.

I bought new hose from SI and attached it properly.

Why would there be a point deduction for using duct tape underneath the dash? There's nothing in the club's judging guide that requires examination of anything underneath the dashboard.
