This may be a kind of dumb question, but can I use a bell housing from an automatic on a on a 3 speed manual? I have a 289 from a 63 Cruiser that had an automatic and would like to drop it into my 1959 Silverhawk 3 speed, but really dont want to attempt to meter in the 3speed bell housing.

It won't work. different holes, different bolt patterns. -
The automatic bell housing has no provisions for the clutch release bearing shaft. Also different are the starters, flywheel bolts & rear mounts among other items.59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!
