63 avanti torque converter alignment

new to stud. avanti. can anyone give me insight on when/how it is ness. to use alighment tool. is it poss. without tool. tks. chas.

You can pull the trans without removing the bell housing, so it shouldn't be an issue, just rotate it until the tangs slide into the pump....Unless the bell housing is/was off and you don't know if was the original. In that case you have to dial-in the bell housing to the engine, then install the flex plate(s) and converter on the crank, and then the transmission..
