It started out as a 63 Avanti 63R3141, but who knows what happened after that.

That's what they are claiming to be the serial number, but the car seems to set too high to be an original studebaker, but like I said, I really don't know Avanti that well. We gave away # 4141 last year as the Keystone raffle car, but it really looked nor sat nothing like that car.

The front wheel-well suggests it is/was a Stude Avanti but the serial#, if correct, says it should have round lights. I'm guessing it is a repaired wreck that had any available parts installed to get it "going" again. Notice the awful fit of the hood in the front pic. YUCK!!! Better theirs than mine!!!!!!!!

If someone pays the $22,500 asking price, it will prove P.T. Barnum correct.

Yes, and did you notice the price, the Chevy steering wheel and the ignition wires with no shielding? Guess the guy figures that the tv coverage will convince people he knows what he's talking about! I just checked the 1963 Avanti register, and that serial number is not listed

This appears to be a relatively high end car sales outfit. But who let the new kid out in the yard with the camera?? These are some of the worst pictures I've ever seen taken for an ad like this.

Isn't this the same dealer who had a GT Hawk recently on his TV program that was incorrectly described?

I remember his Grand Trismo Hawk with a 289 which was the same engine that Ford
used in their Mustangs.

Well, The good news is this one doesn't have a 289 Ford in it, the bad news is it doesn't look much like a Stude 289 either.

Looks like you could almost check the oil without opening the hood.

The fender well height, GM steering wheel and trans shifter all says it's been modified with a GM engine/trans.. and whatever else...

Somebody went well out of the way to turn the 63 into an Avanti II. The roof "buckle" type emblems, hood ornament, Studebaker script being removed as well as the addition of the Magnum 500 wheels certainly make it look like a II. Maybe the owners had no choice in doing a rebuild and had to change the front end, but the "build" diminishes the value of a 63. What the devil were they thinking putting a 70/80's style Chevy steering wheel on the car?

This is the same dealer that was discussed on another thread as being on TV with the tall blond woman. who is his wife(obviously high maintenance). The tv show airs on velocity channel, and the owners obviously feel that if you can't dazzle the buyers with knowledge and accuracy, you should baffle them with BS. Unfortunately for the ultimate buyer, and fortunately for the seller, there seems to ultimately be an a** for every seat!!
