  • Engine: Is it really a 50?

Wondering if my engine is actually for a 1950 champion.
    1. Sent the carb in to exchange out of my 50 Champion and was told it was a truck carb??????????????
    2. Took points to O'rielly's to get new set. Those in the picture on their computer screen were not like those that I took out out of my car.
The clerk checked to see what those for a 49 Champion looked like and they are identical?????????????????????

The numbers/letters on the head are:
    526989
    3 S N D
    C98

On the side of the block are the letters:
    D N

    Does this information mean anything?
Are there other letters/numbers somewhere else on the block?

Thank you to those who can help.

ID:	1692986Don't rely too much on the listings at auto parts stores. I think you have a fairly early 1950 with the type 'A' distributor which was used on '49s also. Later 1950 models used the type 'B' distributor.
Does your carburetor have an automatic choke? Truck carbs had a manual choke.
The numbers on the cylinder head are for a 1950 model.
See the image here to find the engine serial number for identification.

It does not have an automatic choke. Thanks for getting back with me. Jimmie
