  • Oil Pressure Plunger Stuck

The oil pressure plunger is stuck and will not pull out of the V-8 block. Have soaked the plunger with PB Blaster. Tried air pressure but the air bleeds off through the other feed galleries. Is there some special or unique tool that might allow an extraction from the front or from the rear of the plunger channel? Engine block has been hot tanked and plunger still stuck. Help anyone? Thanks.

If it's well and truly stuck, you could tap the hole in it and then use a long bolt to pull it out, and just buy another OPRV.

    just a thought,

Got it out. Used a 9/32 allen wrench and put the 90 degree short end up through the main oil bearing hole. Tight turn into the plunger area but this allowed about 1/8 to 1/4 inch travel gap. Held long end with a pliers and gave it a hammer whack. This moved the plunger small hole end enough to break the slug grip and the plunger came on out with a pencil magnet on the other big hole end.

11 second Avanti sounds pretty quick! What kind of power are you running under the hood? Do you drive it on the street? sounds like a fun ride![8D]
