I just noticed that the posting times are two hours behind for those of us on the east coast. Is that due to the website software being programed to think that daylight savings time went off last night as it has in the past?

That's possible. I've noticed that previous to today, it's been 1 hour behind East Coast time.

The time on this post is exactly one hour AHEAD of my actual time on the West coast.

I'm sure it's the daylight savings time thing, on the computer that hosts the website. Until this year, when the new law went into effect, daylight savings time ended on the last Sunday in October. Maybe that web server machine hasn't been updated with a new patch that tells it to wait until next Sunday.

My VCR decided that today is the beginning day of standard time. No updates for it - can you still buy new VCR's? (don't answer - that's a rhetorical question)

That would explain mine, but not Gary's or Matthew's.

Yep it appears as though the server is an hour early a week early because of the DST change. BTW, server time is set for the Central Time Zone (except when it gets off anywhere between 10 minutes and two hours for no apparent reason). The day I figure the timing problem out is the day I buy a Powerball lottery ticket.
