I am looking to update my Champ from R-1 to an R-2, anyone having a complete set-up and looking to sell?

I hope you plan on lowering the compression ratio. For the parts you need I would give Jon Myer a call. He probably has all the parts on the many shelves at his place.

To really get it right, you'll need R2 heads or dished pistons, intake manifold and carburetor, distributor advance curve.

All it takes is money and time.

The R2 heads are not hard to find. Most of the later truck heads can be used. Check the cc ratings on the home page. Get a set of heads that closely match the R2 heads. If you can't get the supercharger and related parts for less than a restored Avanti, you may consider using turbos instead, while you're collecting all the parts. You can make your own setup for far less money and the performance will be better. Lots of info out there on installing turbos on our engines.

So that's my problem. I've never had both of those at the same time.

Your chances are better with a 57 Golden Hawk setup although that one has more pieces to make sure you have it all vs. the 63/64 set up where the water manifold is RARE. I ended up buying an entire engine to get the water manifold to put my Hawk back to original. That was in 1992!

The R2 heads are not hard to find.

Guess I've been looking for heads in all the wrong places. Anyone who has R2/truck heads 1557582 and doesn't want them any more, PM me and maybe we'll both get happy.

Jack, I'll keep my eyes peeled around here for 82 heads if you're really interested.

SI has the water manifold in repo.

Do they have it listed in the latest catalog? I checked their website but wasn't able to find it. Do you know what they are charging for it?

Thanks,
Nick

I have a complete original R2 with a power shift out of a 1963 Super Hawk.
Every thing there.
I have many other R2 items for sale such as Paxton parts , VS 57 parts
and complete super chargers , 57/58 water manifolds , pulleys etc.
Selling my 40 year stash , getting old.

The 57-58 bracket should be NOS, at least the one I purchased was.

Water manifold bolts onto the front of the engine & heads & holds the water pump. Thermostat opening is in a different position for R-2 engines to allow room for the top mounted supercharger.

Would think someone with the right equipment could make those out of Aluminum and still make a profit on them.

John Erb has the stuff, if only people would rattle his cage.

When I was looking for mine I had to depend on classified ads in Turning Wheels. There were a couple I responded to as soon as I got my copy only to find they were already sold. One seller I remember saying that he wished he had 30, that he could have sold them all! That was in the early 90's so you can imagine how many could be sold today by way of the internet! I'd take 2 myself right now.

You are right.
John Erb bought the molds for these from Lional Stone with all of his supercharger stuff.
Does anyone know what is happening with John Erb.
He does not answer calls.
