I was fiddling with the vanity in my Avanti glove box and got to thinking about the disclaimer on the inside of the door advising people who were inclined to drive in a spirited manner to see their Studebaker dealer about wheels and tires better suited for this. Does anyone know what these were? Halibrand wheels like those on R3's? Which tire?

The info tag was not about the wheels- it was about the tires. 'speed rated ' tires were pretty new at that time and very expensive.StudeRich

Ah, the days of suggestion or advising.
Nowadays the manufacturer dictates what tires I must use forever more.
A decade or so back Our (130 HP?) Mazda MPV minivan came with H speed rated tires from the factory, and the door sticker spelled it out.
Tire shops (regrettably, understandably) refused to install lesser tires, which included virtually all tolerably priced nice narrow studless snow tires back then.
