1) I have an 8E5 Champ. I brought the truck from North Carolina when my mom could no longer live alone. When I began the frame-off restore in 2008, I removed an alternator. I am told the truck was equipped with a generator, and I can find no alternator in any manual I have. So, someone switched to an alternator (?). I got a new alternator from an auto store and new regulator (Studebaker and SI Part# 1555237 --Autolite).
The new regulator looks nothing like the one I removed from the truck. It's a Delco-Remy and Jim at SI tells me it should be the Autolite. I need to know if I can use the new regulator with the alternator.
2) I bought a new horn relay. The new harness matched the old one with a three prong plug that attaches to the horn relay. The wire running from the horn button through the steering tube is shown attached to the horn relay in the wire diagram. But how? With all three prongs plugged in there is no place for the horn wire.
Any help would be appreciated.
