  • Wheels / Tires: 48 Land Cruiser and radial tires

I decided to put radial tires on my 48 Land Cruiser. Then I found out about the hub caps falling off and the problem woth ther radials onthe old bias ply rims. I was told about the Ford/Chrysler rims and thatthey should fit. I took a piece of cardboard and traced the center hole and bolt pattern. When I went to the local used parts place, we could not find a pattern that worked. The closest was a chevy pattern that had the right bolt pattern, but the center hole looked too small. Is there anything different in the pattern for the Land Cruiser being a bigger car? We looked at the Crown Victoria, but they are too big and they only have 16 in rims, I need a set of 15 in rims. Any suggestions?

    47-50 Commanders/Land Cruisers have a 5 on 5 bolt pattern - like Chevrolet.

47-50 Champions have 4 bolts only.

51 and newer, all models, have a 4.5 on 5 bolt pattern. - like Ford and MoPar

I have bored the center hole of rims larger to fit different applications.

Thanks, I will look into it. I did measure the hole in the old original rim, it is 3 and 1/4 INCH.
