  • Ignition: What are the best plugs for a 50 Champion

The plugs in my 1950 Champion are, fittingly, Champions. I want to put a fresh set in, but I have no idea what the proven best plugs are to use in these motors? Anyone know which is considered the best?

The"BEST" is often like beauty, in the eye of the beholder. In my Champions I use Champion J8. They are easily found in the lawnmower section at WalMart.

Champion J8, Autolite 295 and AC 45 or R45 are all good plugs for your engine. If you can find a sale or manufacturer rebate, that is even better. Autolite often offers rebates on their plugs. Bud

I think Champion J8 is what the factory used.

Thanks guys. Great info. In my vintage Volvo world the NGK's reign supreme, and many have some pretty strong opinions as to their performance. It seems like the plug choice in the Studebaker is not as drastic a decision. I will get a fresh set of Champion J8's, as that just seems somehow right as they are going into my Champion.

          Thanks again for your help.
