  • Buttercup's new gas filler door

You know how hard it is to put gas in our C-K's. The gas pump nozzles were smaller in 1955 than they are today.
I removed Buttercup's top hinged gas door and welded in one from a 626 Mazda that is hinged on the side. No unsightly finger hole. Has a cable with a lever that will be mounted on the floor next to the driver's seat.

It's roughed in, the body man will have to finish it off with chopped glass.

Sweet touch, Jerry. You may also want to add a remote secondary release inside the trunk, just in case you develop any issue with the cable to the front.

          Not necessary.
I will be able to reach the door latch from the bottom.

How much bribing did you have to do to Robert for that one? <G>

I liked the hinged taillight housing the best, but that looks pretty nice too.

Glad you ended up with Buttercup. I was going to buy that car but the seller changed his mind when I had the cash. Glad you were able to get it. It'll be much nicer than anything I could've done with it.

                Nice done!
I'll (& I will soon enough...) put mine behind the rear window like a friend did on his -68 Dart & maby even like Jaguar - have one on each side.
But even just turning the opening 1/4 would be a better step.
