    587555 = 1955 - 1961 8.00:1 54.5cc
    557570 = 1963 - 1964 8.25:1 54.5cc

      Remember these numbers are often poorly cast or hard to read, but the Casting Numbers, NOT the part numbers, are: 537555 and 1557570!

      The 570 being the 10.25 to 1 Avanti R1 head, when used with the stock flat-top R1/R2 pistons. Also when used with the correct 1957 thru. 1964 thin beaded steel 1545072 Head Gasket, not the 1955 & '56 ONLY, thick sandwich 535982 gasket.

      If you run the 1557570 Heads with stock STANDARD 289 deep dished pistons (as used on '63-'64 Lark/Hawk), again using correct THIN gaskets you will have 8.25 or as some information says 8.50, whatever, not a big deal!

      This would give you considerably LESS H.P. than the advertised 180/195 (259) and 210/225 (289), if you run the wrong (thick) gaskets lowering it to only 7.75 to 1. AS was done when most mechanics in the past, pulled these engines apart and ordered aftermarket, NOT Studebaker approved gaskets!
