  • Molding clips for C/K dash pad needed

I am replacing the dash pad on a hawk dash and I need at least 4 clips 1312854 (requires 8, total). These are the small clips, that along with 6 machine screws, slide into the chrome molding which holds the dash pad to the underside of the dash. I did not see this listed in the SI catalog. Does anyone know where I get any of these, new or used?

    Thanks,
    Larry

The ones I had fell apart when I tried to remove the strip from the dash they were rusted. I have one more dash in the attic as soon as I get help I'll try again with it. I'll let you know. Anne

Thanks, I appreciate it. Some used ones would be fine for me. I am sending a few pictures and dimensions to Restoration Specialties, but I am afraid they may be rare. Maybe they will have something I can cut down to size or somehow modify. I am hoping I can locate a few to keep this project rolling. I'll contact some of the guys in Turning Wheels if I don't have any other luck.

I just installed the trim on my 56J. I used the small T bolts from the rear trunk panel on the '62 Hawk. SI has them.

Can you refer me to a page in the SI catalog or a part number? On each of the two trim moldings, there are three clips with threads and a nut and four of these clips I am looking for. The clips that Robert has looks like them except that the wide part needs to be a little higher on the clip to allow for the thickness of the padding and cover. Are the T blots that you used like the ones on each end of the molding? If so you were able to get a nut on each one of the locations where these clips are used?

Larry check with a company called Aveco they make auto body clips and I'am sure they have something that would work. May not be just the clip you have but out of all they have something should fit.

Thanks for the contact information on Auveco. I ended up taking my dash to a local upholstery shop and they said that they thought they had some clips which might work with a little modification. I decided to let them install the dash pad (for $100).
This is actually a '53 but I am using a later Hawk dash. The car is on jack stands in these pictures. This was a complete basket case with no drive train. I have installed a 2006 GM LS1 motor and automatic and GM rear.
