  • Air cleaner color

    Hi guys,
Before I paint my air cleaner on my 65 v8, I wanted to double check that semi-gloss black is correct. Is that true or did they use a different black for the air cleaner assembly?
    Thanks,
    Nate

Most were a bit more Gloss than Semi when new, Gloss Black should work fine.

I don't know if those pics I posted before will help. Looks pretty glossy.

Since you're talking about a 65 with a McKinnon engine, it has an AC (GM) air cleaner. As Rich said, they were painted a semi-gloss that was almost gloss black. Eastwood sells an Underhood Black that is an exact match.

Thanks for all the input. I'll give Eastwood a call. I've been using those factory pictures quite a bit.

What is that square hole above the master cylinder in these pictures?

Is that where the hose for the windshield washer bottle would go through? My early 65 has the plastic bottle on the left fender and the hose goes through the firewall somewhere near there.

I think that's black tape over a round hole, and I'm not sure what the hole is for.

I have noticed that most people put the reproduction battery labels on new batteries in the incorrect orientation (180 degrees off).
