  • Interesting Studebaker themed panel truck.

Joe and I spent most of two days in Springfield, MO last week at the big swap meet on the Ozark Empire fairgrounds. Not a lot of Studebakers if you don't count the Ozark Trails chapter's space, but all sorts of car related stuff. One of the vehicles spotted was this Dodge Dakota based conversion.

I know this car well it is definitely started as a Dodge Durango.

Nice concept. I would prefer the taillights mounted higher for safety-like WAGONAIRE- up higher. I'm sure it could be done . Nice job however.

I'll take it just like it is. I would prefer more windows, but I would want it fo rmy grandchildren to ride around in. I owned a Studemino, but I like this better.

Different by.. design? Personally it would have been better with the clip tilted down another 2-5 degrees. But hell, I have enough difficulty making stock look right.

i could deal with that. but i'd have to do something about the rake, and add more "shiny stuff", starting with the door handles.

You sure it was a Durango? I didn't poke my head in because the owner was not there, but I thought I could see part of the back of the cab.

Perhaps a Dakota? I see now it really does not resemble the HHR after looking again. The rear doors look like something factory....perhaps a Dodge carryall?

When I asked my brother he confirmed seeing the back of the cab. We both thought it was a Dakota. Definitely a Dodge.

The back panel is too upright to complement the front, imo. I'd think a more arched roof to tail line would be much more attractive with that front end. More like a 50s Ford Panel body line.

I meant to say Dakota, I own a Durango and I always say the wrong one.
