  • Body / Glass: Vent Glass Overhaul

I'm overhauling the vent glass assemblies on my 1955 E truck. The weatherstrip has a protrusion which fits in the metal frame. Is there a trick to getting it in the groove? I've used Goop hand cleaner to lubricate the rubber but still can't get it in. Perhaps I need to spread the frame, insert the rubber and then clamp the frame. Any suggestions?

By using two clothespin style clamps I'm slowly getting the weatherstrip in the frame. If anybody had a better idea, I'll all ears.

Well, I got them together. Once I used the wood clamps from the start of the assembly, things went quite well.

I used dish soap on mine and it went smoothly.
