Studebaker also built the T-27 armored car (or "Scout Car") for the military during WWII, but the Chevrolet design was selected for production. The T-27 was an 8-wheeled vehicle sporting a turret with 37mm gun.

The M-8 as the winning design was designated for production was widely used by reconnaissance and cavalry units, especially in the European Theater by both American and British units.

Those would be interesting vehicles to track their histories.

Cool. Tactics were changing through technology for those commanders that had some imagination.

Studebaker also made at least two prototype deuces at the same time as that scout vehicle during WWII. It looked very similar to later M35s but the photos I have are dated 1943. It makes a little more sense now.

Believe Studebaker was also responsible for the T-21 below as well.

Chris mentioned another version of truck. Shortly after the war started, it was clear that current 2.5 ton trucks had a profile that made them easy targets - believe the US6 was eleven feet tall in some configurations. So the idea was to build a low silhouette truck that would be a little more stealthy. IIRC, Studebaker built two different examples, one that was single rear axle, the other being dual.

I sure hope they had bigger engines than the Weasel in them.
