  • Avanti on TV

While is was resting after installing new rear springs in my SUV I caught the new series Viva Laughlin and much to my surprise Bunny(Melanie Griffth) drove up in an Avanti. And it is a Studie since it had the S on the C piller. About time they used a real car on a new show.

I thought that a 1966 Avanti II would have been built with a "buckle" emblem on the C pillar, but just a plain one - no S. Are you sure that your Avanti II was built that way and hasn't had those emblems replaced in the past 41 years?

That's correct they were solid Black.

I remember sitting in a 1966 in their factory "showroom" and noticing the "S" on the back seat was gone, the ones that had the Delco Radio had silver foil tape over the "Studebaker" on the faceplate and of course that "C" pillar emblem was black like the hood emblem...But knowing how N&A used the least expensive method to make the Stude. into a Avanti II, I would not be surprised that some may have been painted black possibly before they got solid black ones, if they EVER did!

So maybe someone polished it OFF! [:0]

The car belongs to Jaeson Kay in So. Cal. It's a 63 R1. He had the car at the 06 Palm Springs AOAI meet.
