  • Part number help

I recently purchased a 55 E-7 pick-up that has shake in the steering, I pulled the steering box (Ross TA 12)and found the ball bearings from the lower worm gear bearing laying in the void at the bottom of the box around the horn wire tube. Nothing looks to worn but while it is apart I would like to replace the bearings and the brass sleeve bushings. I believe the keeper below the lower bearing slipped down the shaft and let the balls fall out of the race that is machined into the worm gear, any thoughts on this or similiar experiance ? Does anyone have a source for these parts and could supply me with the correct part numbers ? I see a lot of parts referanced for TA boxes in cars but do not know if they are the same as the truck. Has anyone ever added a steering stabilizer to the front end of these trucks ? I would like the steering to be reliable and shake free as I plan to drive on a fairly regular basis. thanks for any thoughts on this. Al Thomas
