  • Engine: What kind of a V8 engine

    Hello
I have and Studebaker engine V8 with number VL 8052
What type of engine is this?
It has an automatic transmission DG200
I am planning to use it in an 52 land cruiser with automatic

Looks like a 1955 259. Should be an easy fit in your 52. Everything should just bolt up. Good luck on the project.

The DG200 would be proper for your Land Cruiser.
A DG250 would be better because of its first gear start, but the DG200 is like what the car came with.

The "L" in VL indicates a Los Angeles (Vernon Plant) assembled (V) 259 Engine. The Plant closed at the end of 1956 Model Year Production.

The DG200 might be what came with the 52 V8, but the DG250 was made to handle the extra torque of the 259, which debuted in 1955...
