There's a bi-weekly flea market that takes place about 5 miles from where we live. Yesterday, before Bob Sporner's arrival, I decided to go there in hopes of finding an old style saftey razor. I'd have done better just to stay home and peruse ebay, but I ended up buying a few fresh fruits and veggies offered by some of the vendors there.
At this market, there's anything and everything for sale. Lotsa used junk and lotsa new stuff. There's some vendors who sell plants of all types too - houseplants, landscaping plants, trees & flowers.
So as I'm trying to make my way out of the market grounds, I turn at the end of one lane of vendors and just happen to glance at the all-white trailer that one seller's loading his unsold trees and shrubs into. Involuntarily, my head turns back for a double-take. Years of spotting Studes conditions one's brain to see things without even conscious registration at first!
I thought: "Man, that sure looks like an M-series fender on the trailer! Geez - so do the bed corners!"
I squat down a bit to look at the face of the tailgate (which is lowered for loading) and BINGO! "STUDEBAKER"!
The hispanic vendor has noticed my interest by this time and he asks me (in real rough english) if I know what kinda truck it's from. I acknowledge that I do and he looks surprized.
Then, obviously proud of it, he taps it's fender and says " I pay one hunner dullar fer dees! Goot deal, no?"
I nod my head in a positive gesture and advised him that one fender's worth more than that!
Hmmmmm..... Wonder if he'd trade for this ol' Champ bed trailer I've got???[}]
