  • Two for one deal

If you recall, I was just talking about the new type of buyers entering our hobby, and I just found another one. The guy owns a 66,000 sq.ft. warehouse in Oklahoma and he's filling it with cars, mostly 107 series Benz'es. (whatever they are)he wants to buy 50-100 of them, to fix them up for resale, but he also plays with other collector cars. He just made me a cash offer on the 58 Packard HT and the 56 Golden which I accepted and he gave me a wish list for more Studebaker. i.e. I need a 4 speed R2 Hawk for him. Who'd have thunk it.

The 107 was a chassis designation and the platform on which the 1972 - 1989 280/300/350/380/450/500/560 SL & SLC roadsters were based. For those that aren't aware of the conversion, 66,000 square feet equals over an acre and a half under roof (think 100 feet wide by 650 feet long).

$4.00 a square foot too, must be a Oklahoma thing. Sounds like he has room for a few 100 cars then.

I just want to clear something up about ending the auction early and selling to the high bidder. That is not selling outside of ebay. Ebay gets paid their full commission and the owner is covered by ebay buyers protection. I only bring it up because a forum member was a bidder and was disappointed that I sold both cars to the one collector by ending the auctions early once he was the high bidder.
I've done it before, and may well do it again, both when I feel the bidding is going way higher then the car is worth, or as in this case, I have the chance to sell two cars for over what I expected to one collector. I've also done it with forum or NG members that I choose as a good home or whatever reason. It costs me a extra $50 to do it by ebay rules and just did not want anyone else to think I was dealing off ebay to screw ebay out of their fees.

He's probably the same guy who is bidding on the '57 Golden that's been relisted with 8400 miles.
