  • Excalibur Thread on HAMB

It has a Studebaker frame, so I figured it belonged in the Studebaker section.....

Of course, I'd agree it belongs here! That's an old thread, but I see some updates I'd missed. Thanks for the heads-up. As one can see reading that thread, people either love or hate Xs... everywhere.

I've always liked these cars in a strange perverted way.

A question, Why require fenders if they don't do anything? These are way to short although personally they look fine on the car.

Usually, it's a state motor vehicle code reg, but the enforcement of it is up to individuals. Some are more strict than others.

Every year at the GoodGuys Show here in Spokane in August, some rodder shows up with a personal gripe about the Oregon or Washington State Patrol hassling him about some silly regulation, like the GMC supercharger on his chopped coupe blocks 3/4 of the view out the windshield.

Yes, as Mr. Vines says, it is state law and some states are stricter on enforcement than others.

As for the Series-1 X's fenders, they were more "functional" with tires of the era that they came with... marginally. It is not unusual to see these early cars with different, more effective fenders, especially in Europe, which too has its own regs. All the best!!!
