I am here hat in hand seeking some help. My 1953 Starliner is doing GREAT.
I am having a problem with a 1950 Packard (they did join Studebaker so sort of a step-child)
The car has a carter WD-0, 2 bbl carb. The car starts stalling for what appears to be lack of fuel when giving some throttle.
The following has been checked or done.
1. Rebuilt with a quality kit from Daytona parts
2.Fuel tank and lines redone and good fuel pressure
3.Vaccuum was bad and found vacuum advance broken and have replaced it and now have proper vacuum
4.Timing checked and set to specs.
5. Coil seems to check out ok and no missing while running that might be expected from bad plugs or wires.
When full throttle is given the accelerator pumps seems to work properly and can race the engine.
It seems the "power valve" just doesn't do what is needed to give it gas during the transition from idle into full power. While test driving, it will roll along fine with whatever gas it is getting but any slight throttle advance starts the stalling.
Any ideas of what to check would be appreciated.
