  • Lark radio button swapping? black to white

I have obtained an AM/FM radio for my 1964 Lark R2 Cruiser but it apparently is from 65/66 with black buttons. Has anyone replaced/switched these on their radio? I haven't and would appreciate any wisdom before surgery starts. Thanks. Steve

Thanks John, I tried that and came up with only older style radios, not the late Larks. Still looking though.

If I remember correctly, the post here said complete disassembly is required to remove the pushbutton shaft and button assemblies, if they were early Delco, I would think late Delco '62-'66 with the smaller buttons would be the same, because all 1956 to 1966 Stude. Radios are Delco.

Hey lexmale, saw your tag line, I am located in Eastern Central Kentucky, (Stanton, the Red River Gorge area) I have a total of 6 Studes, three of which are '64 Daytona HTs, and a 30 year collection of used and NOS '62-'64 parts. Not a dealer, and nothing is particularly for sale, but I am always willing to help out another Studebaker enthusiast.
Yep, Kentucky and Studebaker's, to me, is 'bout as close as it gets to heaven here on earth.

63-66 radio are pretty much the same, and I pointed you to a post about a 63.

I have swapped push buttons between a 63 Avanti radio & a 64 Hawk radio. The buttons can be carefully pried off the metal actuator shaft and the new ones installed. The majority of the differences are in the electronics and the red color band on the Avanti radio dial. Mechanically they appear to be identical.
