Richard Carpenter has always been a big MOPAR fan and collector. I don't know if he still lives in Downey, California, but when I lived there in the 1980s a friend of mine and a big "Carpenters" fan said one Sunday, "you want to see the Carpenter houses?" I said sure, and we headed from our town Whittier down to Downey. The "houses" were a series of about 7 or 8 regular 1950s Downey tract houses that had been purchased one by one by the Carpenter family and joined via garages and walkways. In front of one of the Carpenter houses was a 1959 Plymouth, the same one pictured on the Carpenter's website! I have seen several of Richard Carpenter's MOPARs (he favored late 1950s Chrysler products) and different car shows in Southern California through the years and his were always pristine. Good to see he has an Avanti!

Really a nice done website- fantastic building for housing his cars. I always thought the Chrysler 300B was one of the all-time best looking cars (not close to the '53 Starliner though).

Its great to see entertainers like him & Leno who spend their money on restoring and collecting classic autos, instead of going the other route that some of them go. I see he still has the 62 Plymouth ragtop..

                    Hi guys,
Richard Carpenter has owned that Avanti for a very very long time.

Michael Myer did some servicing to it when they were still residing in LA.

Where are the grease stains where the cars mark their teritory in those pictures....

I checked the website mentioned above.
Good to see he still has his cars...last time I heard of Richard & his cars, he was selling a MOPAR (a letter serires 300 as I recall) so I wasn't sure he was still in the hobby.

Nice to see an R-2 in his colletion.
