Rear Brake Hose

I am having difficulty finding a rear brake hose for my 56 Powerhawk.
Will the front hose Raybestos BN11149(front) also work in the rear or is it too short?

Too short, I found the interchange with Google last time I needed it.

Check the interchange on my web site, there are two different lengths possible for a '56 rear hose, and some of the numbers I have listed are unconfirmed (so let me know if you use one and it works for you.)

I must correct one screw up not to miss lead. The tee end is not inverted flair straight 3/8-24 thread with copper washer so the
advance hose sounds right.

If you have access to an advance auto or related. They list hose for 56 hawk. doesn,t state if for front or rear. length indicates rear. Part #H11146- Spec are 18.00 length. 3/8-24 thread, male one end, female other. If your unaware this are 3/16 inverted flare ends. The steel line end is 3/16 and I,m reasonably certain the male end that goes in the tee is the same.(the steel line will thread in where you removed hose if I,m correct) Don,t have fitting handy and brain old and foggy. If you have a NAPA near with someone who knows what their doing or gives a damm to help you (good luck) their catalog lists hose by length and ends with photos. They should be able to help you find one that will work. I use their books here locally for things like this.

The 18 inch hose you list is just fine, maybe 1/2 longer then factory, but way better then the 14 1/2 I've seen used. The short hose will work until you put the rear up on jack stands on the frame, then the hose will end up supporting the weight of the hanging rear end.

Anyone know if hoses for a Powerhawk would be different?

I don't know if it makes a difference to you, but the Argentine hoses are not US D.O.T. approved like the vendors hoses. I told Dennis at SASCO about him possibly using the Argentine hoses, but he passed due to liability issues. For items like brake hoses, I'll spend the very few extra bucks.

If worse comes to worse, use a rear hose for a 77 Dodge D150 truck. You'll have to bend the existing brake line a bit, but otherwise it works.

How could you bend the brake line since it has to fit in the rear bracket and clip ?

Don,t vendors have these or just you can order the Hose from Advance on line if necessary.
