I'm reading a biography of an individual who grew up in Belgium during WWI; there was an American GI who knew him in WWII and described his father, "...as a rich man who drove a Studebaker. Another comtemporary confirmed the fact that a Studebaker was the car of choice of rich industrialists in that era."

Must have been talking about the late 20's/ early 30's?

It has always been my feeling that in Europe, Studebaker cars were considered above those of the big three, almost like a connoisseur's choice.

That may be the case as well, but no, I'll double check the time reference this evening, but the sentence was referencing WWII or just post.

I double checked, the author's quotes were related to people speaking post 1944 Belgium, in general. The person quoted about Studebaker and industrialists was a Frenchman.
