  • 1950 studebaker champion speedometer

I took apart my dash to my 1950 champion to repaint it. I decided to clean up the gauges and speedometer as well. I took it all apart and repainted it. It looked good and I was happy with it until I went to put it all back together. The paper gasket or at lest I think it was paper that holds the glass in place in front of the speedometer fell apart. I thought it wouldn't be that bog of a deal and put it back together. It looks good but now the glass is lose because the gasket is missing. Does any one know where I could find this gasket or what I could uses to replace it. It might even be a seal not a gasket but I'm not sure. Any advice will help, Thanks.

the liquid rubber should work fine. but if you have enough pieces left of the paper to make a template - or can tell from the glass discoloration the size of the gasket - and find the right thickness of paper (maybe more than one piece), that may be another option to think about.

        whatever works!!!
