Found this article this morning, and wasn't even doing a Studebaker search. It was right there on the front page.

The article states a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic w/overdrive was available for the Coupe Express in 1937. I thought Studebaker didn't offer an automatic until 1950 or so.

I have heard the overdrive Borg-Warner transmissions in Studebakers and Fords described as being automatics. I guess when it "automatically" shifts into overdrive it qualifies it as an automatic transmission is some minds.
