  • Brakes: 57 Commander frt shoes

Any other cars (Packard?) have the same 11" front drum brakes as a 57 Commander V8? Vendor prices are ridiculous. I can get everything else at Advance Auto Parts.

As been mentioned numerous time, Studebaker V-8 front shoes are NLA from manufacturers. Save your shoes and get them relined. DO NOT DISPOSE OF OLD CORES!

Chevy people have their brake shoes relined with Kevlar.
Did anyone ever try to get a chevy shoe reliner to try Stude shoes?
The problem with the relined shoes available now is that the lining is too hard.
Kevlar works even better than the old original asbestos shoes.
When working on original Studebaker brakes , wear a mask to prevent inhaling the asbestos dust.
Use an air hose only outside and wet the area down after cleaning with air.
Do it only when there are no kids around.
            Asbestos dust is dangerous!

I don't use an air hose at all. Once the drums are off, I squirt the whole thing down with a garden hose and flush the dust off the driveway into the garden dirt. Then I use a brake cleaner aerosol to drive out the water.
