'58 perhaps a little high priced?

05-02-2014, 09:24 PM
If I were in the market I would be all over that '57!!! :!:

The '58 does seem a bit high for what I can see, yes.
Photos of what I can't see would tell me if it's worth that top end price.

Both cars look to have lots of life left in them.

Now, a '57 Scotsman on Ebay with no reserve. Flat six and three. At $2,500 at this time with just under four days in the auction. Kinda high starting price for a non-running Scots, isn't it? E. Washington car. Last ran in '76 but quite solid looking. Good canvas for your dreams.

Any of the above cars seem to be worth further investigation for someone wanting to get into Studes for not much money. All probably could be negotiated to a lower price. Hope an SDC member can save one of these poor orphans!!

That 58 is not "Baby Blue". That particular factory two-tone is Cliff gray over Bluff gray - what my Provincial was originally.

My thought exactly Bob! :) Definitely NOT Blue, sometimes I think these people that write these ADs stand a Block away when they write them.

These really are Great Cars and good deals, I like the '57 Transtar, but WHAT is with those Dual Exhausts 14 Inches beyond the Body! Even if it had a factory or aftermarket Step Bumper which it probably did, they would be pretty far out there, right in your Leg. :(

I think the '49 Commander Regal, Starlight is the BEST deal.

And, that little Tahiti Coral, Regal Lark looks like a dead ringer for the '59 Factory Brochure Prototype Car, complete with the White Roof!

Weird pipes for sure. LOL..... there was an outfit outta Florida that was advertizing custom made exhaust systems for Studes - they had regular ads in TW for a time. I ordered a set for my Lark and they were ALL wrong. Stuck out three feet past the rear bumper. This was in the mid-80s IIRC

Let's try one more...

'53 Champion sedan for $5,200 obo in LA. I think Joe Friday would've driven this one. Plain as plain, charming for it. No rust. Owner has a different idea of restored engine...

A '49 Commander Starlight? Boy, wish I had waited before I popped on my recently acquired '49 Champion Starlight. I agree with StudeRich on the '49 being the best deal of the lot (followed very closely by that '41 Champion 2 door). That Commander is a fairly rare car with 6,278 Regal Deluxe Starlight models built in 1949. Looks fairly solid from the photos. But as always, what lurks underneath? And inside? And the seized motor would concern me a bit. Could be costly in the end. Still, a nice find worth saving and preserving.

That '53 has been around for years (on the net) - for sale for way more than the $5300 it wants now.

Actually that '53 Champion Sedan belongs to a Forum poster here, or did anyway and probably still does. They did get into it way too high.

What's scrap value??? Ain't it about $500 give or take? Seems there's a bit more room if he's serious about it being a shame. Here's the Big Six car I always wanted to experience - two thousand miles and as many dollars away.
