  • Rear Axle: Rear axle interchange

Is there a GM truck rear axle that is close to the same width as a 1937 coupe?

What is the width? The owner would like to go GM as the bolt pattern match would allow him to stay with his artillery wheels.

It would have to be a very Old GM to be that narrow, pretty hard to find nowadays.

What is the owner trying to accomplish? He might be able to keep his 4.55 rear end if he has an overdrive transmission - unless he's trying to put 350 horsepower through it. Is this a President or Dictator?

I put an 84 rear end out a 1/2 ton Chevy pickup in my 37 President without a problem. I don't know the width.

The car is a dictator, no overdrive. Ideally he would like to also have an overdrive, but has been unable to find one for the price he wants to afford. The engine is original and solid.

5Brown1....can you supply additional info on your swap
