  • Brooks Stevens' Excalibur 35X

I just saw this picture while looking through the Hemmings Blog archive. It looks like Brooks Stevens did a rendering of a "neo-classic" revival Bugatti. If you look closely, the car has a 64 Daytona frame, just like the first generation production Excaliburs:

I'd take a Studebaker engine "Bugatti" any day over the VW engine most of the "replicas" (in the loosest sense of the word) use.

Interesting! You know those VW Buggatti's can still be found. It would be a creative project but????

Please edit your post and its title. Brooke is a female name. The car designer was Brooks Stevens.

Stevens built a few of these (Opel engines, btw) and sold the rights or partnered, at least initially (depending on whom is telling the story), with a Frenchman who almost immediately went bankrupted. If you look at detail pix of the 35--should you find them--it appears very much like a rebodied Series 1 X of the era.
