1959 and 1955 Studebaker parts cars (Lemon Grove) $200 what can I say.

When I think of parts from the west coast I think "NICE RUST FREE". This is the second recent case on the forum of cars with more rust than we see here in the midwest

Yes, second case- but from the same collection.
The other cars were covered in these two threads~

What I don't quite 'get' is how they can be so bad.
It's not like Lemon Grove, California is near the ocean.
In fact- it tends to be quite dry there.

Well...at one time, they were mobile on wheels. Just because they ended up there doesn't mean they are FROM there.

I understand that. I lived in the San Diego area a few times- over ten years total. I have stored multiple Studebakers (and currently a Packard) near Lemon Grove since 1995 give or take a year. So of course I know that most of that rust is due to being elsewhere first. What I don't understand is how if they were solid enough to be driven or even trailered to where they sit now- how did they get to the point of imploding in on themselves? The climate in Lemon Grove isn't bad enough to push them over that edge. Even if they were there for 40 years. It's just weird to me.

That is all I am trying to say.
          I think.

That's very true in a lot of cases. Just think how many folks from the east and mid west relocated to California. Quite a few drove their rusty cars west, they had to wind up some place.
A fellow I worked with relocated near Red Bluff California, he drove a very rusty 1972 Chevy wagon out there. I pity anyone who bought that car after he got rid of it!

Lemon grove must have some heavy air and the rust from the top down, buyer beware how does one move something like this unless one had a front end loader on site.

I could go along with that. I see it in Washington State all the time.
The trouble is- in Lemon Grove- there isn't much moisture to begin with!!! It's just odd to me.
But the more I look at the pics, the more evidence I see pointing in that direction.
It's almost like they cleared some brush and found the cars under it all.
Someone's water bills must've been big.

Parked next to a saltly Ohio road at one point in their lives. Snowplow toss got them guaranteed.
