When I think of parts from the west coast I think "NICE RUST FREE". This is the second recent case on the forum of cars with more rust than we see here in the midwestMilt

What I don't quite 'get' is how they can be so bad.
It's not like Lemon Grove, California is near the ocean.
In fact- it tends to be quite dry there.

A fellow I worked with relocated near Red Bluff California, he drove a very rusty 1972 Chevy wagon out there. I pity anyone who bought that car after he got rid of it!sigpic1957 Packard Clipper Country Sedan

Gotta be under some trees,or growth of some sort and held a lot of dampness/moisture for a long time.too bad as these are all c/k cars that have - or in this case had more value
Originally posted by StudeDave57 View PostI understand that. I lived in the San Diego area a few times- over ten years total. I have stored multiple Studebakers (and currently a Packard) near Lemon Grove since 1995 give or take a year. So of course I know that most of that rust is due to being elsewhere first. What I don't understand is how if they were solid enough to be driven or even trailered to where they sit now- how did they get to the point of imploding in on themselves? The climate in Lemon Grove isn't bad enough to push them over that edge. Even if they were there for 40 years. It's just weird to me.

The trouble is- in Lemon Grove- there isn't much moisture to begin with!!! It's just odd to me.
But the more I look at the pics, the more evidence I see pointing in that direction.
It's almost like they cleared some brush and found the cars under it all.
Someone's water bills must've been big.
